Executive Board: 2020-2021
President : Dominic Escobal
Hey guys! I’m Dominic and I am FCA’s President for this year! I am a junior General Biology major, on the Pre-Med track😉, and with an Asian American Studies minor (highly recommend taking FAST class in the fall)! As President, I am here to lead the Executive Board in building a community that celebrates our culture while also being “a home away from home”, just as it is for me 😁
If you need any help with classes or being Pre-Med or just want to talk (always down to talk about anime, politics or sadboi stuff), please feel free to reach out! Even though we are online, I hope to get to know all of you more! … You can catch me stuDYING on the FCA Discord 🙃
Vice President : Gaby Lavarias
Hellu everyone~ I’m Gaby, but you can call me Gubs and I’m so happy and honored to serve as your Vice President this year! I am currently a junior studying bioengineering (so basically all of STEM *cries*) and I’m also in Gemstone, so if you have any questions about that, maybe find another contact because my brain is always empty! I’m totally joking (not the head empty part tho), y’all can talk to me whenever, all you have to do is listen for the uwus 😀 I, along with the rest of the board, are more than happy to welcome you into our FCA family~
Co-Treasurer : Argen Detoito
What’s up FCA?? My name is Argen and I’m one of your Co-Treasurers (alongside the best partner, my money buddy — Gelly!) for this school year! Let’s start with the basics — I’m a sophomore Computer Science and Physics double major (so if you need help with any of those, feel free to ask me!). Although unsure what I specifically want to do after graduating, I’ve been really interested in diving into quantum computing or software engineering. Outside of school, I spend a lot of my free time playing video games and working out. I joined FCA in the fall semester of my freshman year to try and connect with my heritage and I’ve never looked back since. In a time that was kind of uncertain for me, FCA shed light on my life, brought me happiness, and introduced me to so many awesome people. I hope that with FCA, you experience the same feelings I felt when I joined initially :))
Co-Treasurer : Angelica de Guzman
Hi everyone! My name is Angelica, but you can call me Gelly. I work closely with Argen, my wonderful co-treasurer! I have family in the Philippines, so I always love visiting, and I can’t wait until I get the chance to again. My favorite Filipino dishes are kare kare and caldereta. I’m excited to get to know everyone better and spread my love for FCA and the Philippines!
Cultural Co-Chair : AJ Saquilayan
HI! My name is AJ Saquilayan, and I’m one of your ✨cultural chairs✨ this year alongside my partner Carmela. I’m a sophomore Civil Engineering major on the Geotechnical and Structural track and an Asian American Studies Minor. During my freshman year, I fell in love with the family that FCA pulls you into and wanted to give back … and now I’m here, sticking post-it notes on my face. As cultural chairs, our job is to ensure that C(ulture) stays at the center of F✨C✨A (see what I did there). I’m so excited to meet all of you and help you find what aspects of culture excite you the most. If you want to learn more about a specific topic or have any questions (cultural, kpop/kdrama, STEM, or anything-related), pls don’t hesitate to contact me!! As always, Peace ✌️. Love ❤️. FCA 🇵🇭. See you at GBM~~~
Cultural Co-Chair : Carmela Raymundo
Hi! I’m Carmela and I’m one of the 2020-2021 cultural chairs along with AJ. I’m a sophomore, pre-Nursing major. I’m so happy to be on e-board this year and serve you guys! As cultural chair, I wanted to go beyond the dances and food. I wanted FCA to learn more about our history and current issues that plague our community here in the U.S. and back home in the Philippines. I also wanted to empower y’all to get more involved in the Filipino community outside of FCA. Feel free to reach out if you wanna learn about our culture! Also down to talk about politics, sustainability, gardening, cooking, baking, and tiktok! I’m excited to get to know you all more!
Secretary : Jenny Mai
Hey y’all! My name is Jenny and I’m currently a sophomore Public Health Science major (and maybeee a Spanish minor but we’ll see) on a pre-PA track. As your secretary, I’m in charge of managing FCA’s calendar, storage, and booking rooms for events (though that’s not really possible this year). The people in FCA welcomed me with open arms during my freshman year and being a part of this org has helped me break out of my shell and really grow as a person. I hope you all feel as welcomed and loved as I have and if you ever want to talk about anything (kdramas, anime, etc), I’m always down so feel free to reach out!
Director of Public Relations : Jessica Nguyen
Hi FCA! I’m Jess (the world calls me Jessica, but my FCA family gets the privilege of calling me Jess) and I’m your 2020-2021 Director of Public Relations! A little about me: I’m a sophomore Government & Politics and Public Policy double-major with an intended minor in Spanish. I LOOOOVE BTS and I’m an absolute FIEND for leche flan. I joined FCA completely on accident, but the tremendous love and family I’ve found here kept me staying. FCA has brought me so much joy and I don’t know what I would have done during this pandemic without the spirit and kindness of my pamilya. My job is to help you feel this same sense of warmth and belonging in our org, which isn’t too hard after you’ve been around our foolishness for a while. My DMs are always open to welcome you into our family and talk about anything FCA, BTS, or whatever’s on your mind 🙂
Community Service Chair : Junnel Dingzon
Hiii, welcome to FCA!! My name is Junnel Dingzon and I’m absolutely delighted to serve as your Community Service Chair this year. I’m a Public Health Science major here at UMD and I’m planning to go to medical school in the future! Outside of academics, I love going on hikes, taking care of my plants, and volunteering in my free time. If you have any questions about anything, please feel free to reach out to me 🙂 I’ll always be here. FCA has blessed me with some of the most supportive people I know, so we’re looking forward to supporting you too! <3
D6 Representative : Alex Edejer
I’m Alex and I’m FCA’s (better) District VI Representative this year! I’m a junior Mechanical Engineering major. I joined FCA my freshman year because I had grown up with my older cousins participating in and loving the Filipino-American organizations from their schools. I had to see what all the fuss was about and FCA did not disappoint. I became D6 Rep because I loved the sense of community we have here at UMD and wanted to extend that family feel to other schools in the DMV area. Outside of school, I love basketball and all things fitness or working out related. Definitely love making new friends so don’t be a stranger!
D6 Representative : Emilyn Hyre
Hi everyone! I’m Emilyn (nice to virtually meet you) and I am the best UMCP District VI Rep for the 20-21 academic year (hah alex). I am a junior Marketing and OMBA major and AAST minor. I joined FCA my freshman year along with D6 and I fell in love with it! It’s amazing to join the Filipino Collegiate Communities across the DMV!
Sports Coordinator : Enzo Regala
Hey y’all! My name is Enzo and i’m currently a sophomore majoring in Information Science with a minor in Technology Entrepreneurship. This year, I’m serving as one of your sports coordinators along with Oli! I chose to become a sports coord because I’ve enjoyed playing sports and exercising so much that I wanted to share it with everyone at FCA! When i’m bored, I like playing basketball, badminton, watching anime, and playing video games!

Webmaster : Mariel de Plata
Heyoo friendss~~ I’m Mariel and I’m your friendly neighborhood webmaster for this year! I’m currently a junior Computer Engineering Major, so if you ever need help with the beep-boops just ask me! Besides school, I enjoy playing piano, dancing, watching anime and gaming in my free time, so if you ever want to have a jam or freestyle sesh or play a round of Valo, I’m always down! I joined FCA my freshman year and ever since then, this organization has truly become my family, so I hope you find a family here with us as well!
Design and Publications Editor : Miggy Alumbro
Yo! I’m Miggy (he/him). I am now a second year Architecture major here in UMD and I am also your DPE! I enjoy getting involved with driven and like-minded people within the position and uplifting the Filipino American experience. I indulge myself in binging anime and then drawing it afterwards. I like to play pick-up basketball with friends here and there, chill out, and drink some boba.
Freshman Representative : Hailey Lat
Hello everyone (ㆁᴗㆁ✿)! I’m Hailey (she/her) and I’m a freshman Public Health Science Major. I’m one of FCA’s freshman reps along with my lovely partner, Alexis! I really loved the familiarness and closeness that FCA had when I first met them at the First Look Fair last semester that I decided I wanted to apply for a position on their board! I love dancing and ice skating and I can absolutely demolish some KBBQ. I also really really love plants! I think my dorm might turn into a garden by the end of the semester. I am really excited to get to know everyone and please don’t hesitate to reach out and talk to me! I’d love to talk about anything from FCA, to anime and kpop, and of course food! Welcome to the FCA family (◠‿◠✿)♡
Freshman Representative : Alexis Castillo
Hello everyone!!!!! My name is Alexis, and I’m one of your freshmen reps this year along with the lovely Hailey. I absolutely loved FCA from the very first GBM and knew I wanted to become more involved! Despite our virtual world, FCA is so welcoming, and does an 11/10 job at creating the warm fam vibes. Outside of school, I really like to journal, roller skate, and play the ukulele 😀 Feel free to reach out to me with your best dad joke, and I can’t wait to meet everyone and spread the FCA love <333
